Emma runs regular Willow workshops at several venues around Belper, Derbyshire. Mainly The Fleet, Number 28 and Holbrook Arkwright community village hall. The Fleet has its own website if you would like to look at the venue and find out more about the space, Number 28 can be found on facebook. All are great, spacious venues with small kitchen areas for food and drink...........

There are a variety of types and lengths of classes to choose from a short day, longer day or weekend. Some are suitable for beginners or people with some experience and a few for those who want to progress onto more complicated sculptures. The taster days are suitable for those who want an introduction to willow. The 2 day sculpture weekends are great if you want to make something a little more challenging. Also there are specific 'theme' days where everyone makes the same, such as making a hen making, pheasant making poppy seed heads.

The emphasis of Emma’s teaching is more on the sculptural side of the craft with some simple basketry techniques, rather than basket making.

Thought it was about time that we got the kids involved in willow weaving. Join me for this exciting new willow workshop suitable for those young creatives. Throughout the day we will be making lots of little objects such as fish, snails, dragonflies and having a play with the materials to see what they can do. Adults must accompany the children as this workshop is about helping the young folk to learn a new skill, working as a team, with our support. Suitable for children over 8. £50 per family.

Plant Supports

On this workshop you will follow my instructions to all make the same object. This time it will be a tepee/plant support. This is a structure suitable for your garden to either grow peas up or just to decorate. It is a good introduction into using willow and covers some simple basketry weaving. If we have time we shall also make some small objects as well, such as dragonflies. They can be quite large so think about how you are going to get them home!
